Year in Food & Music

The Year in Food & Music

ZACH ROGUE

December 30, 2013 Colby Mancasola

Zach fronts the bands Rogue Wave and Release The Sunbirds.

What was the food highlight of your year?

My favorite food moment of the year was celebrating Thankgivikah at my Mom’s house in the East Bay. The definitive highlight for me was the sweet potato latkes with cranberry creme fraiche. Wow. Zinga. Pop. Ding.

What was the music highlight of your year?

My favorite musical moment was watching my daughter close her eyes and listen to James Blake at the Treasure Island Festival. Her expression totally encapsulated how I feel when hear great live music and how lucky I am to live in such a wondrous place as the Bay Area. And shit howdy, that boy had an amazing set.

Was there a moment when food and music came together in a memorable way?

Sitting with my good friends for a 3-hour Sunday brunch at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael. As can be expected, all the hits and deep cuts of yore were wafting through the air (Neil, Bob, Jerry, Joni, Stevie, etc) and the bloodies + coffee was endlessly flowing. The sun was perched perfectly in the sky, my eggs benedict was lovingly embraced by it’s crispy bacon dancing partner, and I got to talk to good friends for hours.
